Good Gardens practices landscape design as the craft of blending nature with human

nature, thoughtfully balancing art and science to create transformative landscapes.

From concept through construction, we design gardens that balance beauty, form and

function with horticultural knowledge. We approach each project with a deep respect for

the existing geography and framework, gathering specialists to execute the ultimate

potential of an outdoor living space.

Our Approach

Working closely with clients to discover desires and decipher needs are critical aspects of a good garden plan. Successful projects are built collaboratively with clients, working through conceptual sketches that develop into detailed master plans and landscape specifications which are the basis for construction and installation. We gather a team of craftspeople together to bring our combined vision to fruition. We also provide horticultural consultations to ensure the long-term success after installation.

The care of our earth is a key component to Good Gardens planning. The thoughtful consideration of existing conditions such a wetlands, coastal environments, and geography are part of our initial site analysis. Sustainable native plant material is carefully considered for each plan that we develop, growing gardens for future generations and creating a legacy.

Gardens are an ever-changing adventure, never truly finished and forever evolving. The joy is in the process. We hope you will find peace and even a little bit of magic in your own backyard.

Let no one think that real gardening is a bucolic and meditative occupation. It is an insatiable passion, like everything else to which a man gives his heart.
— Karel Čapek, The Gardener’s Year (1931)
